We are pleased to announce that version 2.0 of the ETIM xChange format for product master data exchange has now been officially released and is available for download.
This major update not only resolves minor imperfections identified in the initial release, but more importantly introduces significant new features to meet evolving market requirements.
Key highlights of version 2.0
Extended environmental data fields (LCA/EPD): Developed together with our international working group on environmental data to support growing sustainability reporting needs.
New element for packaging material data: to meet the main data requirements of the new PPWR, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
Reintroduced and updated MD codes: adapted from ETIM BMEcat and now included as a closed list (of MDX codes) for second-level media type specification in the ‘AttachmentTypeSpecification’ field.
Support for serial number management: Enabling more robust tracking of serialized products.
And a lot more: A complete overview can be found in the change log in the final chapter of the guidelines document.
Documentation package
You can find a zip-file with the complete documentation package in our download section, for a direct link click here. New is that we also included the code lists as separate Excel files (zipped together), also we added a file with the suggested mapping of (new) MDX codes to the corresponding ATX code.
Next steps
The xChange validation tool will soon be upgraded to also support the new version 2.0, we will post an announcement once the upgraded version is deployed.
Continuous development
We are confident that this new release will further accelerate the successful adoption of ETIM xChange. The standard will continue to evolve to remain aligned with market needs.
