On the 12th of February, the board of METEL srl, who is representing the interests of ETIM for the electrotechnical industry within the collaboration framework ETIM Italy has adopted a hybrid approach towards the adoption of ETIM xChange.
In Italy, change rarely happens overnight. When a new global standard is introduced, the instinct is not rejection, it’s prudence.
They tend to ask:
Can we integrate this without disrupting what already works?
Can we protect existing investments?
Can we move forward without burning bridges?
That’s not resistance. That’s Italian pragmatism.
With ETIM International’s xChange, the opportunity is not about forcing an immediate, rigid conformity. It’s about enabling a ‘smart transition’. A hybrid approach is possible, and often desirable.
Companies can:
Adopt structured ETIM xChange data where available
Integrate progressively, aligning internal systems step by step
Complement structured data with technical links, PDFs, and documentation
Maintain operational continuity while building toward full standardization
This hybrid model does not weaken xChange. It strengthens adoption. Because integration is not binary. It is evolutionary.
For the Italian market, this means:
No political friction
No artificial acceleration
No fragmentation
Instead, they get:
European interoperability
ESG-ready data flows
AI-ready structured information
A supply chain that can scale beyond national borders
Giorgio Casanova the CEO of METEL :
“The goal is not immediate perfection. The goal is aligned direction.
Italy does not need to resist global standards. It can interpret them intelligently.
And when structured data and prudent integration coexist, we don’t slow innovation,
we make it sustainable. That’s how we grow together in a European framework.”
This is one of the many signs we get from the market that adoption for ETIM xChange is rapidly growing.
